לדוגמה, לאחר השאלה “What is a majority?” אפשר לכתוב: “The majority of students supported the new rule.”
שיטה נוספת היא ללמוד בניגודים ובקבוצות משמעות. majority/minority, rights/responsibilities, support/oppose, approve/reject, legal/illegal, public/private. המוח זוכר קשרים טוב יותר מפריטים מבודדים. כאשר מילה אחת עולה, היא עשויה למשוך איתה מילה נוספת.
אל תדלגו על קריאה בקול. שאלון G הוא אמנם משימה של קריאה וכתיבה, אך שימוש בקול מוסיף ערוץ נוסף לזיכרון. כשאומרים “citizens have the right to vote” ולא רק קוראים אותו, לומדים גם את הצירוף הטבעי have the right to.
חלקן משתמשות במילים כמו refers to, means, describes, allows, requires, involves.

קחו למשל את המשפט: “The new system was introduced in order to increase transparency and restore public trust.”
אפשר לכתוב: “Students should have a greater role in decisions that directly affect them.” כאן role, decisions, directly affect הן מילים פשוטות יחסית אך מתאימות לטיעון. בהמשך אפשר להוסיף: “Such participation may also encourage a stronger sense of responsibility.”
לאחר מכן מוסיפים סיבה: “Voting is important because it allows citizens to participate in the democratic process.” בהמשך מוסיפים הסתייגות: “However, participation involves more than voting alone.” לבסוף מוסיפים דוגמה. כך אוצר המילים נכנס בהדרגה למבנה טיעוני.
דרך נוספת היא לתרגל פרפרזה. במקום “The policy caused many problems” אפשר לכתוב “The policy resulted in several difficulties.” במקום “Many people did not agree” אפשר לכתוב “The proposal faced considerable opposition.”
One possible reason is that… או This may be caused by…. להצגת תוצאה: As a result…. להצגת ניגוד: Although…, או However,…. כאשר השלד מוכר, נשאר יותר מקום לחשוב על התוכן.
תרגול בעל פה מועיל במיוחד כאן. המורה שואל: “Why might voter turnout decrease?”
אבל נסו לענות בלי לראות אותה על השאלה “What is the noun form of oppose?”
מורה יכול לראות תוך זמן קצר אילו סוגי שאלות מעכבים את התלמיד: inference, main idea, vocabulary in context, reference, cause and effect או כתיבה.
אם תלמיד אומר “The government made a new law for reduce pollution”, המורה יכול להראות מיד את המבנה הנכון ולהסביר מדוע צריך “to reduce”.
English Curriculum 2020
Can-do statements for 5-point Bagrut, B2
עמוד ה־Can-do הרשמי מפרט מה תלמיד ברמת 5 יחידות אמור להיות מסוגל לעשות בקריאה, כתיבה ושימוש בשפה. בין היתר מדובר בהבעת נקודת מבט, פיתוח טיעונים ושימוש באוצר מילים המתאים למגוון נושאים. המקור חשוב במיוחד משום שהוא מציג את היעד במונחים של ביצוע בפועל ולא רק של "ידע בחומר".
Council of Europe – CEFR Companion Volume
מסגרת CEFR של מועצת אירופה היא אחד ממקורות הייחוס המרכזיים בעולם להוראה, למידה והערכה של שפות. היא מבחינה בין רמות שפה ומפרטת יכולות תקשורתיות, אוצר מילים, הבנת טקסט והפקת שפה. ברמת B2 הדגש עובר ליכולת להתמודד עם מגוון נושאים ולהשתמש באוצר מילים רחב יותר בצורה מדויקת וגמישה.
Council of Europe – Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture
