הוא עשוי לכתוב, למשל, “I finally got it yesterday” לאחר שבמשפט הקודם דיבר על bicycle.
“Dear Amy, Thanks for your message” כבר מספרת לנו שיש תקשורת קודמת. “Sorry I didn’t write earlier” רומז שהכותב מסביר עיכוב. “Guess what happened yesterday!”
מילים כמו yesterday, last week, tomorrow, next month, usually, this Saturday, since Monday אינן קישוט.
Because מציגה סיבה. But מציגה ניגוד. First, then, after that
חשוב במיוחד לסמן כינויי גוף ומילים שמתייחסות לדבר שכבר הוזכר: he, she, they, it, this, there. כאשר מופיעה שאלה מסוג “What does the word ‘it’ refer to?”, זו בדיוק המיומנות שנבדקת.
“Write back soon”, “Can you come?”, “Let me know”, “I hope to see you” או “Please tell me what you think” יכולים לחשוף את מטרת החלק האחרון.
אם קראתם “Our school is organizing a charity day next Friday” ואתם מבינים school, next Friday ואת הרעיון של event, ייתכן שכבר יש לכם מספיק כדי להמשיך גם אם המילה charity חדשה.
שאלת Who? שאלת Where? When? Why?
אם במכתב כתוב “I wanted to go swimming, but it started raining,” המשפט “The writer went swimming” אינו נכון, גם אם swimming מופיע בטקסט.
|---|---|---|
| Who?
| When?
| True/False |
נניח שבמכתב כתוב: “The bus was delayed, so we arrived an hour late.”
כששואלים “Why was Ben late?”
כאשר תלמיד אומר “The answer is Tuesday because I saw Tuesday,” אפשר לשאול מיד: “What happens on Tuesday?”

Dear Mia,
We finally got a dog! His name is Rocky, and he is seven months old. We brought him home from an animal center last Tuesday. At first he was very quiet and stayed near the kitchen door, but now he follows us everywhere.
My sister and I take turns walking him. I walk him before school, and she usually takes him out in the afternoon. Dad does the evening walk because he gets home from work at six.
Rocky already knows how to sit when we ask him, but he still needs to learn not to jump on visitors. We are taking him to a training class next week.
Would you like to come and meet him on Saturday? Bring old shoes because he loves playing in the garden!

Hi Ella,
We're having a great time at the coast. Our apartment is only five minutes from the beach, so we go there almost every morning. Yesterday the sea was too rough for swimming, so we rented bicycles instead and rode to a small village about six kilometers away.
There was a local food market in the village. I tried a kind of bread with cheese and tomatoes, and it was delicious. Mum bought some fruit, while Dad spent most of his time looking at old books.
Tomorrow we're taking a boat trip if the weather is good. I'm a little worried because I sometimes feel sick on boats, but Dad bought me some medicine.
We come home on Monday. I'll show you my photos when we meet.
Take care,

Dear Adam,
I worked on our science project after school today. I found three useful articles about how plants grow in different kinds of light. I saved them in the shared folder, so you can read them tonight.
I also spoke to Mr. Hill. He said our idea is good, but we need to make the experiment simpler. Instead of using six plants, he suggested using three and putting each one in a different place: near a window, under a lamp and inside a dark cupboard.
Could you bring the three small pots tomorrow? I can bring the soil and seeds. We should start the experiment this week because we need at least two weeks to collect results before our presentation.
Call me if you have any questions.

Hi Grace,
We've been in our new house for a week now, and the boxes are finally disappearing. My room is smaller than my old one, but it has a large window that looks over the garden. I put my desk next to it because there is plenty of natural light.
The best thing about the new area is that I can walk to school in ten minutes. At our old house, Mum had to drive me every morning. There is also a library at the end of our street and a sports center two blocks away.
I still miss our old neighbors, especially Mr. and Mrs. Brown. They gave me a plant before we left, and it is now sitting on my windowsill.
Come and visit during the school holiday. You can stay in my sister's room because she will be at university.

Coach Miller told us today that basketball practice will start half an hour earlier this Thursday. We need to be in the sports hall at 4:00 instead of 4:30 because another team needs the court later in the evening.

Hi Olivia,
Do you remember the community center I told you about? I started volunteering there on Tuesday afternoons. At first I thought I would help in the kitchen, but they needed someone in the children's room instead.
Most of the children are between six and nine years old. We read stories, draw pictures and sometimes play simple board games. Last Tuesday I helped a girl called Ruby make a birthday card for her grandmother. She was very proud of it.
The center is looking for more volunteers next month. You once told me that you wanted to do something useful after school, so I thought you might be interested. You don't have to come every week; they also need help during special events.
Let me know and I'll send you the coordinator's email address.

Dear Noah,
I know you're worried about Friday's English test, so I wanted to tell you what helped me this week. On Monday I tried studying everything at once, but after an hour I couldn't remember much. Since Tuesday, I've been doing shorter study periods with breaks between them.
First I review ten words, then I use each word in a sentence. After a short break, I read one text and check my answers. When I make a mistake, I write down why I chose the wrong answer.
Mrs. Lee also told me not to stay up late on Thursday. She said being tired can make it harder to concentrate.
If you want, we can study together online tomorrow evening. I can send you the vocabulary cards I made.
Good luck,
Ethan

I'm staying with my grandparents this weekend because Mum and Dad are attending a wedding in another city. I haven't slept at my grandparents' house for almost a year, so it's nice to be here again.
This morning Grandpa and I went to the garden center. He wanted some new flowers for the front garden, and I helped him choose yellow ones. In the afternoon Grandma taught me how to make her vegetable soup. I wrote the recipe in my notebook because I want to try making it at home.

Hi Sara,
I've just finished the first lesson of my photography course, and I think you'd love it. There are only eight students, so the teacher has time to look at everyone's pictures. Today we learned how changing the light can make the same object look completely different.
We spent the last thirty minutes outside taking photos around the old station. My favorite picture was of a red bicycle beside a grey wall. Next week we're going to learn about taking pictures of people.
The course is on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 and continues for six weeks. The center still has two free places. I know you've been using your new camera a lot, so maybe you'd like to join.
I can send you the registration page if you're interested.

Dear Max,
Our school cooking competition is next Friday, and I've finally decided what to make. I'm going to prepare vegetable pasta with a simple tomato sauce. I first wanted to make a cake, but several other students are already making desserts.
We have only forty-five minutes to prepare the food, so I'm going to practise the recipe twice at home this week. My aunt gave me a useful tip: cut all the vegetables into small pieces so they cook more quickly.
Students have to bring their own ingredients, but the school provides pots, pans and basic kitchen tools. We can also bring one person to help us prepare before the competition starts, so Dad is coming with me.

Hi Emily,
I have some good news. Our school band is performing at the summer festival next month. We usually play only at school events, so this will be our first performance in front of a large public audience.
We're practising every Monday and Thursday after school. I'm playing guitar in four songs, but in the last song I'm also singing. That part makes me a little nervous because I've never sung alone in front of so many people.
The festival begins at 2:00 p.m., but our band is scheduled for 4:15. You don't need to buy a ticket because entry is free. There will also be food stands and children's activities in the park.

Dear Jack,
I finally joined the swimming lessons at the new sports center. You were right — the pool is excellent. My class is on Tuesday evenings, and there are five other people in my group.
At the first lesson the instructor asked each of us to swim two lengths so she could see our level. I was surprised because my breathing was harder than I expected. She showed me how to turn my head more slowly, and it already feels easier.
For the next three weeks we're going to work mainly on technique rather than speed. That's good for me because I don't care about racing; I just want to swim longer without getting tired.
There's a café upstairs. Maybe we could meet there after my lesson next Tuesday?

Hi Mia,
Could I ask you a favor? My laptop stopped working this afternoon, and my history project is due tomorrow. Luckily, I saved the project online last night, so I haven't lost my work. The problem is that I still need to add two pictures and check the final page.

I don't need to install anything. I only need a web browser to open my files and then I can email the finished project to my teacher.

Dear Liam,
I checked the weather for our camping weekend. Saturday should be dry and sunny, but it may become windy on Sunday morning. I think we should still go, but we need to bring warmer clothes than we first planned.
My brother can drive us to the campsite on Friday after work. He finishes at 5:00, so we could leave around 5:30. The drive takes about an hour. That should give us enough time to put up the tent before it gets dark.

Hi Daniel,
You asked how my English lessons are going. At first I thought we would spend most of the time doing grammar exercises, but the lessons are much more practical than I expected. We read short texts, talk about them and then use some of the new words in conversation.
My biggest problem used to be answering quickly. I often understood a question but stayed silent because I was afraid of making a mistake. My teacher now gives me a few seconds to think and asks me to answer even if the sentence isn't perfect.
Last week I spoke in English for almost ten minutes about a film I liked. I made mistakes, of course, but I didn't stop every time. That felt like real progress.
I'm still working on vocabulary and reading, but I feel more comfortable using what I know.
Talk soon,
Ella

3-Point Bagrut Handbook.
3-Point Bagrut Handbook, February 2025
Basic User II, A2.
Basic User II – 3 Point Bagrut – A2
3. Council of Europe – CEFR.
Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
4. Education Endowment Foundation – Reading Comprehension Strategies.
Reading Comprehension Strategies
5. Education Endowment Foundation – One to One Tuition.
One to One Tuition
6. Cambridge English – A2 Key.
A2 Key Exam Format – Reading
