400 שאלות ותשובות HOTS לרומן: What if ו־How would you feel – הכנה חכמה לבגרות 5 יחידות שאלון F

או ב־How would you feel…?.

ו־How would you feel…?

What if the protagonist had made a different decision?

במקום להמציא פרטים שאינם קיימים ביצירה שלכם, משתמשים במושגים כמו the protagonist, the main conflict, the turning point או the secondary character, ואז מחליפים אותם בפרטים האמיתיים מתוך הרומן.

If he told the truth….

איך מפרקים What if ו־How would you feel לפני שמתחילים לכתוב

What if…?

If the protagonist had told the truth earlier, the conflict might have become less severe. Other characters would have had more time to respond honestly, and this fits the protagonist's later realization that secrecy causes greater damage.

How would you feel…? I would feel sad I would feel betrayed and confused because I would not know whether I could trust the person again.

רק לאחר מכן מוסיפים because, therefore, however, as a result, although, this suggests that או for example.

  1. What if the protagonist had told the truth at the beginning?
Model answer: The main conflict might have been less severe because the other characters would have received the information before mistrust developed.
  2. What if the protagonist had kept the secret until the end?
Model answer: The ending could have been more damaging because the truth would still exist while the relationships were built on false information.
  3. What if another character had discovered the secret first?
Model answer: The balance of power might have changed because that character could decide whether to expose, hide or use the information.

שאלות 101–200: How would you feel — תגובה אישית בלי תשובות ריקות

It was unfair הוא שיפוט של המצב; I would feel frustrated because I was treated unfairly

אדם יכול להיות relieved and guilty, proud but worried, angry yet understanding.

I understand his motive, but I do not agree with his decision

תלמיד שמזהה שני מניעים ומראה את הקשר ביניהם כבר נמצא ברמה אחרת מתשובה של "he did it because he was scared".

Model answer: Readers may form an early conclusion that later evidence forces them to revise.
  8. Why might your opinion of a character change?
Model answer: New information can reveal motives or consequences that were invisible at first.
  9. Can you dislike a character and still defend one decision?
Model answer: Yes. Literary analysis should evaluate individual actions rather than treating a character as entirely good or bad.
  10. Can you like a character and still criticize a decision?
Model answer: Yes. A strong answer separates emotional identification from evaluation.

  1. How is peer pressure in the novel similar to real life?
Model answer: In both cases people may change behavior because belonging and approval influence decisions.
  2. What real-life situation could involve a similar moral dilemma?
Model answer: A person deciding whether to report a friend's harmful behavior could face a similar conflict between loyalty and responsibility.
  3. How can the novel help readers think about leadership?
Model answer: It can show how leaders respond to power, criticism and responsibility.
  4. What lesson about trust could apply outside the novel?
Model answer: Trust develops through consistent behavior and can be damaged quickly by secrecy or deception.
  5. How could the protagonist's mistake happen in modern life?
Model answer: The details might change, but fear, social pressure and poor communication still influence real decisions.
  6. How can the novel help readers understand people they disagree with?
Model answer: Following motives and experiences encourages readers to distinguish understanding from agreement.
  7. What does the novel suggest about speaking up?
Model answer: Use the consequences of silence and resistance in the text to explain the lesson rather than giving a general slogan.
  8. How can one theme be relevant to school life?
Model answer: Themes involving belonging, fairness, ambition or identity can appear in everyday relationships and group decisions.
  9. Why should a personal response still refer to the novel?
Model answer: Without the text, the response becomes a general opinion rather than literary analysis.
  10. How can personal experience improve an answer?
Model answer: It can clarify why a situation feels meaningful, provided the connection to the character or event remains explicit.

  1. Was the protagonist's most important decision justified?
Model answer: I would judge it according to the information available at the time, the motive and the predictable consequences.
  2. What would have been a better decision?
Model answer: I would suggest an alternative that fits the character's situation rather than an unrealistic perfect solution.
  3. Would you make the same decision?
Model answer: I would state my choice and explain how my priorities might differ from the character's.
  4. What if your alternative decision also created problems?
Model answer: I would compare the likely costs and explain why I still consider one option preferable.
  5. Can a wrong decision be understandable?
Model answer: Yes. Fear, limited information or pressure can explain a decision without making it correct.
  6. Can a correct decision be made for a selfish reason?
Model answer: Yes. Outcome and motive should be evaluated separately.
  7. Which decision reveals the protagonist's values most clearly?
Model answer: Choose a moment when the character must sacrifice something rather than merely state an opinion.
  8. Which decision contradicts the protagonist's stated values?
Model answer: The contradiction may reveal hypocrisy, weakness or internal conflict.
  9. What decision would you change first?
Model answer: I would change the choice whose consequences influence the largest part of the novel.
  10. Would changing that decision improve the story?
Model answer: It might improve the character's life without improving the novel, because conflict is essential to literary development.

  1. What might happen one year after the ending?
Model answer: A convincing prediction should grow from unresolved conflicts and established character traits.
  2. Which relationship is most likely to survive?
Model answer: I would choose the relationship that shows trust, communication or genuine change by the end.
  3. Which relationship is least likely to recover?
Model answer: A relationship with repeated betrayal and no accountability would be difficult to rebuild.
  4. Will the protagonist repeat the same mistake?
Model answer: Compare the final behavior with the earlier pattern to decide whether genuine learning occurred.
  5. What new conflict could naturally develop?
Model answer: It should grow from an existing consequence rather than from an unrelated invented event.
  6. How might the community remember the protagonist?
Model answer: Different groups may remember the character differently depending on how the final actions affected them.
  7. Would the protagonist be happier in the future?
Model answer: Happiness would depend on whether the central internal conflict has actually been resolved.
  8. Could the antagonist change after the ending?
Model answer: Look for evidence of regret, self-awareness or flexibility before predicting change.
  9. What future event might test the protagonist's growth?
Model answer: A similar dilemma would show whether the new values survive under pressure.
  10. How would you write one final scene?
Model answer: I would create a scene that reveals a consequence of the ending rather than introduce a completely new storyline.

  1. How would your reaction differ from the protagonist's?
Model answer: I would identify one difference and connect it to values, experience or tolerance for risk.
  2. Which character would react most like you?

  3. Would you be more forgiving than the protagonist?
Model answer: I would explain what conditions I would require before forgiving.
  4. Would you take a greater risk?
Model answer: My answer would depend on what could be gained, what could be lost and who else might be affected.
  5. Would you trust the same person?
Model answer: I would evaluate the person's previous behavior and whether trust had been earned.
  6. Would you tell the truth earlier?
Model answer: I probably would if delay increased the risk of greater harm.
  7. Would you leave or stay?
Model answer: I would compare whether staying offers a realistic chance of solving the conflict.
  8. Would you challenge the group?
Model answer: I would try to speak if the group's behavior harmed someone, although I would probably feel nervous.
  9. Would you follow the authority figure?
Model answer: I would distinguish between respecting authority and accepting a decision without question.
  10. Would your response change if you had the character's background?
Model answer: Probably, because experience shapes what people fear, value and consider possible.

  1. What is the strongest argument in favor of the protagonist's action?
Model answer: Present the best reason based on the character's situation rather than a weak argument that is easy to reject.
  2. What is the strongest argument against it?
Model answer: Focus on the most serious consequence or ethical problem.
  3. Can both arguments be reasonable?
Model answer: Yes. A real dilemma often contains legitimate values on both sides.

  5. How might a parent and teenager judge the action differently?
Model answer: They may prioritize protection and independence differently.
  6. How might an insider and outsider judge the group?
Model answer: An insider may value belonging while an outsider notices conformity or exclusion more easily.
  7. How might the victim and offender interpret the same apology?
Model answer: The offender may see it as closure while the victim may see it only as the beginning of repair.
  8. Could a rule protect some characters and harm others?
Model answer: Yes. The effect of a rule can depend on a person's position and power.
  9. Can loyalty be both positive and dangerous?
Model answer: Loyalty supports relationships, but unquestioning loyalty can protect harmful behavior.
  10. Can ambition be both useful and destructive?
Model answer: Ambition can motivate effort while becoming destructive when success matters more than people or ethics.

  1. What if the protagonist were rewarded for every selfish action?
Model answer: The moral message would change because consequences would no longer challenge selfish behavior.
  2. What if honesty always solved every problem?
Model answer: The theme would become less complex because honesty can also create difficult consequences.
  3. What if nobody experienced consequences?
Model answer: Responsibility would become much less significant to the novel.
  4. What if every conflict ended through compromise?
Model answer: The story might emphasize cooperation but lose situations where values cannot easily be reconciled.
  5. What if social pressure had no effect?

  6. What if the protagonist never cared about other people?
Model answer: Choices based on loyalty, guilt or sacrifice would have a very different meaning.
  7. What if the antagonist were completely evil?
Model answer: The moral conflict might become simpler because readers would have less reason to examine motives.
  8. What if every character were morally perfect?
Model answer: Much of the conflict and growth would disappear because mistakes create opportunities for development.
  9. What if the novel offered a clear answer to every dilemma?
Model answer: Readers would have less need to interpret competing values.
  10. Why can ambiguity make a novel stronger?
Model answer: Ambiguity requires readers to evaluate evidence and form a reasoned interpretation.

  1. What evidence would support the idea that the protagonist is afraid?
Model answer: Use behavior, dialogue, avoidance or repeated choices rather than simply stating that the character is afraid.
  2. What evidence could challenge your interpretation?
Model answer: Look for a scene where the character behaves differently and explain why it does or does not change your conclusion.
  3. Why is one example sometimes insufficient?
Model answer: A single event may be unusual, while a pattern provides stronger evidence about personality.
  4. Can dialogue serve as evidence?
Model answer: Yes, especially when words reveal beliefs, relationships or contradictions.
  5. Can silence serve as evidence?
Model answer: It can, but its meaning must be inferred from context rather than assumed automatically.
  6. Can another character's opinion be evidence?
Model answer: Yes, but that character may also be biased or mistaken.
  7. What is better than inventing an exact quotation?
Model answer: Accurate paraphrase of a specific event is safer and more honest.
  8. How do you connect evidence to a claim?
Model answer: Explain what the detail demonstrates instead of leaving the example to speak for itself.
  9. What if two pieces of evidence point in different directions?
Model answer: Use the contradiction to present a more complex interpretation.
  10. How do you choose the best example?
Model answer: Select the moment that most directly demonstrates the claim you are making.

תלמיד עשוי לדעת מאות מילים ועדיין לא להכיר את עשרים או שלושים הביטויים שמאפשרים לו לבצע ניתוח: as a result, this suggests, unlike, although, the character is motivated by, this decision leads to, from his point of view, I would probably feel.

שאלות היפותטיות מזמינות שימוש ב־conditionals ובמבנים כמו would, might, could, if… had…, אבל אין טעם להפוך כל תשובה לשיעור דקדוק בפני עצמו.

How would you feel if you were in the protagonist's position? I feel not good because it is difficult.

What if the character had left? Who would be affected most? Would the theme change? Would you make the same choice?

שאלות נפוצות על HOTS, What if ו־How would you feel בשאלון F

How would you feel

I would feel sad because it is difficult

If he had told the truth earlier, the others might have trusted him more.

4. האם “I would feel sad” יכולה להיות תשובה נכונה?

בשאלות What if שימוש נכון ב־would, might, could ובמבני conditional יכול לעזור לבטא את היחסים בין מצב היפותטי לתוצאה. If this happened, the character might… because….

"Something happened with his family" חלש. "After his family discovers that he hid the truth…"

כאשר הוא עונה על How would you feel הוא לומד לתאר רגשות וסיבות. גם מילות הקישור שימושיות מחוץ לבחינה: however, therefore, as a result, although, from my point of view.

I don't know how to answer What would you do if the client rejected your proposal?.

שאלת What if…? שאלת How would you feel…?

Aligned Literature Handbook, September 2025

3. Council of Europe – CEFR Companion Volume

4. Harvard Graduate School of Education – Project Zero, Step Inside
