Only registered students can enter the room. You cannot enter the room unless you are a registered student.

Many residents opposed the plan Local people were against the proposal.

מתחילים ב־quick / fast, ממשיכים ל־didn't succeed / failed, אחר כך ל־because / as a result of, ולבסוף למבנים שבהם כל המשפט משתנה אך היחסים בין העובדות נשארים זהים.

תלמיד שמכיר רק דרך אחת לכתוב "I think it is important" עלול לחזור עליה שוב ושוב. In my opinion, I believe, I feel that

All the students passed except Ron.

Some employees work from home Most employees work from home. David may come אינו שווה ל־David will come. She should call him אינו שווה ל־She must call him.

הראשון הוא החלפת מילה או צירוף במקבילה: very tired הופך ל־exhausted; not expensive הופך ל־cheap.

They built the bridge in 2010 יכול להפוך ל־The bridge was built in 2010.

She started living here in 2022 and still lives here יכול להפוך ל־She has lived here since 2022.

He stayed home because he was ill He stayed home because of his illness. Although it was cold, they went swimming Despite the cold, they went swimming.

He was exhausted. He was very tired.
She started here in May. She has worked here since May.
Because he was sick… Because of his illness…
Although it rained… Despite the rain…
Few students… Not many students… לבלבל few עם a few
You must… You have to…
She may come. It is possible that she will come.
Active / Passive They repaired it. It was repaired.
Unless you hurry… If you don't hurry…

Although Maya was tired, she finished the project,

Despite being tired, Maya finished the project.

All the seats were occupied אפשר להסיק There were no empty seats, ולהפך.

הוא קורא take part ומנסה לתרגם take ואז part.

She decided to leave ו־She made a decision to leave

אם לומדים decide = להחליט וממשיכים למילה הבאה, מפספסים את decision, את make a decision ואת המבנה decide to do something.

מי שלומד increase כדאי שיכיר decrease, rise, fall, go up ו־go down. There was a decrease in sales Sales went down.

אומרים make progress, take a break, pay attention, do research.

The new rule had a positive effect on attendance. The new rule positively affected attendance.

I lived here for five years ו־I have lived here for five years

ההבדל בין must, should, may ו־can הוא הבדל במשמעות, לא רק בחוק דקדוקי. You don't have to come, לעומת זאת, You mustn't come מציג איסור.

No other runner was faster than Dan Dan was the fastest runner.

Unless you study, you won't pass שקול ל־If you don't study, you won't pass.

The project was created to encourage teenagers to exercise more. What was the purpose of the project? תלמיד שמבין Restatement מזהה ש־was created to מציג purpose.

Residents complained about the noise. People living in the area were unhappy about how loud it was.

תרגול Restatement מסודר עוזר לפתח "רדאר פרפרזה": המוח מתחיל לראות ש־result יכול להופיע כ־effect, ש־reason יכול להופיע באמצעות because, וש־not enough עשוי להתחלף ב־lack of.

אפשר לומר a meeting with the doctor. אינכם זוכרים expensive? אפשר לומר costs a lot of money.

I don't have time today וגם ל־I'm too busy today.

אם משנים שאלה מ־Why did he leave? ל־What was the reason for his departure?,

סימן שלישי הוא מספר גדול של "טעויות קטנות": always במקום often, must במקום should, before במקום after.

"Because of מחליף because + sentence, אבל הסיבה נשארה אותה סיבה" מעיד על שליטה טובה יותר.

לדוגמה, אחרי The test was difficult, המורה יכול לשאול: What else can be difficult?

שאלות 51–100: זמן, since, for, already, yet וסדר אירועים

She lived there for five years She has lived there for five years

שימו לב גם ל־before, after, until, by the time, already ו־yet.

שאלות 101–150: כמות, השוואות, enough, too, few ו־most

גם most אינו all, ו־some אינו בהכרח many.

Ben is taller than Sam Sam is shorter than Ben.

The box is too heavy for me to lift

כאשר הכמות מקבלת תמונה, ההבדלים בין all, most, some, few ו־none נעשים מוחשיים.

Modal verbs

המלכודת המפורסמת היא mustn't מול don't have to.

"You must wear a helmet" הוא כלל. "You should wear a helmet" היא המלצה חזקה.

במטרה נפגוש לעיתים to, in order to ו־so that. She left early to catch the bus

בתוצאה מופיעים מבנים כמו so…that, such…that, therefore ו־as a result.

או "What happened as a result?".

If you don't hurry.

The school organized the event The event was organized by the school

“I am tired,” she said יכול להפוך ל־She said that she was tired.

לפני שאתם משנים את המשפט, חפשו את "המילה המסוכנת": only, almost, hardly, still, already, unless, too, enough, may, must, except.

כדאי לנהל רשימת "מילים שמשנות הכול": few, most, all, only, must, should, may, can't.

אל תדלגו על מילים קטנות. not, only, except, still ו־almost יכולות להיות חשובות יותר מהמילה הארוכה ביותר במשפט.

סיבה יכולה להופיע באמצעות because או באמצעות because of.

Decrease יכול להופיע כ־go down.
Residents יכולים להפוך ל־people who live in the area.
Purpose יכול להופיע באמצעות to או in order to.
Unseen.

Restatement?

Cambridge English — Developing Reading Skills for B2 First for Schools

British Council — Aptis Advanced Technical Supplement

Education Endowment Foundation — One to One Tuition
